The Paths to the Community project

Opening Paths to Integration

Viittakivi started the European Social Fund (ESR) funded Paths to the Community project in July 2016. The project (1 July 2016 – 31 December 2017) is administered by Viittakivi Oy and concentrates on municipalities in the Southern Savo region.

The object of the project is to try new kinds of methods and co-operation to ease the integration of asylum seekers who have been granted a residence permit. The project focuses on finding work and education paths for these people and furthering good living conditions. This project builds working practices between reception centres, municipalities and other local stakeholders, so that it is faster for asylum seekers who have a resident permit to move on from the reception centre to the municipalities and employment without the risk of social exclusion.

The project is a co-operation between Viittakivi’s Savonlinna reception centre, the Red Cross and the Pieksämäki reception centre. During the project, we are closely co-operating with the municipalities in the region, employment services, companies and the third sector.
